Storms Riverwater Tubing or Blackwater Tubing in Storms River, the ultimate aqua adventure, is a 5hr river gorge experience that includes river tubing, scenic walking and cliff jumping in the Storms River Gorge Plaatbos Nature Reserve.
The river is classified as swift water and on medium to high water level, it holds little more than grade two rapids. However, 80 – 90 % of trips are run on low water levels so the tubing experience is somewhat similar to kloofing where one paddles the pools and walks the ‘bony’ (shallow) sections.
The Storms River Gorge (currently managed by SANParks and The Department of Water and Forest Affairs the DWAF) is known for its spectacular scenery of high fern-clad rock walls, indigenous forests and bird life. The Storms River Tubing experience in Stormsriver is one of scenic adventure and fun filled hours of paddling, swimming rock hopping, and rock jumps.
We are also known as Blackwater Tubing
High & medium water levels (September - November) is when we get our rapids. Remember that if your after the high water experience, you have a window of about three days after heavy rains to catch the Storms River Roller Coaster Ride!
For the 'not so brave', rapids and rock jumps are optional and our APA accredited swift-water safety guides are always ready to help.
